I followed a link here from Lurcher SOS and there was our very own Jakhi (formly Jake) pictured on your success stories. I am the one who fostered Jake when he  came over from Ireland and then couldn't bear to part with him.

So I would like to say how grateful we are that you rescued him from the pound and allowed us to have such a lovely dog. Despite being the opposite to every thing I was looking for in my next dog (I wanted a small, delicate Whippet bitch !) we now wouldn't swop him for anything.

He was so nervous on arrival I thought it would take months for him to settle but he has amazed me how he has gained confidence in leaps and bounds (literally at times) and now loves his long walks, his training classes and Agility lessons and playing with his elder brother Tryfan the Whippet. He is proving to be a very clever and easy to train dog with a fantastic temperment .

Your are doing a wonderful job without any help from anybody except  the people who give to you and iam sure they do it very willing and to see how the dog's look after you have cared for them is great i do have a whippet myself and he has a couple of inche's missing of his tail and when i bought him i ask what had happened and was told that the litter brothers chewed his tail so i gave the money and brought him home at 5months old.

It is such wonderful to see your rescue dogs with their loving families.  My own little Esme has now been neutered and bouncing around, a joy to her companion Hetty and to me.

There is a very good website for collars and leads, which donates to sighthound charities, this is called celtic hound collars, they are absolutely gorgeous!

Hi,

I put the link to your new website on a German sighthound rescue forum.

See here:

http://galgo-in-not.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=224&t=23036

This forum has some members who own whippets. The dogs are partly from the rescue.

The forum contains information about keeping sighthounds and also helps to find new homes for abandoned sighthounds (mainly for galgos, which are Spanish greyhounds).

There is current information on Greyhound rescue too, see

http://galgo-in-not.de/forum/viewforum.php?f=10

(partly in English)

The forum has an English part here:

http://galgo-in-not.de/forum/viewforum.php?f=78

and there is an infobrochure about the poor galgos in English:

http://galgo-in-not.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=2526

Please feel free to contact other whippet lovers and rescuers in the forum. We have members from Holland, Germany, Austria and so on. I am from Hungary and I take care of the Hungarian news part of the forum as I think in connection with sighthounds the most important thing is to provide the public with information on their plight and real character.

I wish you all the best for your rescue work and I congratulate you for this beautiful new website! I have already recommended it to someone here in Ireland who wants a second whippet (she already has one). I hope she will contact you.

Kind regards,

Tünde Patko

Killiney

Great to see a rescue just for whippets. I would love to have one but at the moment have 2 greyhounds and 2 lurchers and husband says no to any more!

It is just heartbreaking to read stories of such cruelty, thank goodness for people like you looking out for these poor dogs, it must be very draining for you emotionally although I can imagine that the rewards, in seeing these dogs improve, are immense.  Bless you.
